Choosing a Reliable NDIS Service Provider

Choosing who supports you or a loved one under the NDIS is one of the most important decisions you'll make in your plan. With so many providers out there, it can be hard to know what actually matters. Here are four things worth checking before you commit.

1. Are they a Registered NDIS Provider?

Registration with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission means a provider has been independently assessed against the NDIS Practice Standards, covering things like governance, incident management and safeguarding. It's not the only sign of quality, but it's a meaningful baseline to look for, particularly if you're using plan-managed or NDIA-managed funding for supports that require a registered provider.

2. Do they have relevant experience and qualifications?

Ask what experience the team has with your specific disability, condition or support needs, and whether any staff hold relevant clinical qualifications. A provider whose team includes allied health backgrounds, for example, often brings a more informed, practical approach to everyday support.

3. Is the support genuinely person-centred?

A good provider builds support around your goals, routine and preferences, not the other way around. In your first conversation, notice whether they're asking about what matters to you, or simply describing a fixed package of services. Flexibility to adjust support as your needs change is also worth asking about directly.

4. How do they communicate, and what do others say?

Clear, responsive communication makes a real difference day to day. Ask how you'll stay in touch with your support workers and coordinator, and how issues get resolved if something isn't working. Where possible, ask for references or read reviews from other clients or support coordinators.

If you're comparing providers in South Australia, we're always happy to have a no-obligation conversation about whether Believe In Me is the right fit for your goals.
